Interior Wraps & Window Film Prahran

Interior Wrap & Film Specialists for Prahran

Prahran is terrace country. Most of the streets off Chapel Street and Commercial Road are lined with single storey Victorian and Edwardian houses, often sitting close to the footpath and right up against the neighbours. That makes for charming homes with some practical problems: dark hallways, bathroom windows a metre from next door, and kitchens squeezed into the back of the house.

We regularly make the trip from our base in Mitcham to work in Prahran on these terraces, and on the cafes, bars and shops along Greville Street and Chapel Street.

Services that suit Prahran terraces and shopfronts

  • Stained glass effect film: a sympathetic way to add colour and privacy to front door panels and sidelights in period homes.
  • Frosted glass film: ideal for side windows that look straight into a neighbour’s wall or window, and for bathrooms on the side path.
  • Kitchen cabinet wraps: refresh doors and panels in a lean-to or rear extension kitchen without new joinery.
  • Vinyl wrap splashbacks: a quick update where old tiles or painted walls behind the bench look tired.
  • Bathroom screen film: adds privacy to shower screens in small bathrooms that double as laundries.
  • Pubs and cafes: hard wearing wraps for tables, counters and bar fronts in hospitality venues that see heavy use.

Living close together in Prahran

Narrow blocks shape almost every job we see here. Side windows face fences and neighbouring walls, so privacy film is often more useful than curtains that stay shut all day. Front rooms open almost onto the street, and owners want to keep the original leadlight look or something close to it. Film gives that option without touching heritage glass.

Many Prahran terraces have a rear extension with a north facing wall of glass. That brings welcome light, but it also brings sun onto timber floors and furniture. Home window tinting with a light, neutral film can take the edge off the heat and glare while keeping the view to the courtyard.

On the commercial side, Greville Street and Chapel Street are full of small venues and boutiques with heavy foot traffic. Counters and tables get knocked about, and vinyl wrap lets a venue change its finishes much faster than a new fit out.

How we run a job

We start with a free quote and an on site measure. We bring sample swatches and film samples so you can hold them up to your own doors and windows. On installation day, we clean and prepare every surface, remove handles and hardware where needed, then wrap or film each piece and refit everything.

Films and wraps need time to settle. Read our curing period and inspection notes so you know what is normal in the first few weeks, then follow our maintenance tips for everyday cleaning.

When a wrap or film is not the answer

Old houses come with old surfaces, and some of them are not ready for a wrap. Cabinets with water damaged, swollen edges, flaking paint on doors, or crumbling plaster need fixing before anything goes over them. We will point this out at the measure.

We also look closely at original leadlight and very old glass. Film goes on the inside of the glass and we check its condition first. If a panel is cracked or loose in its frame, it needs a glazier before it needs film. And surfaces directly beside a cooktop or heater are a poor fit for vinyl, so we plan around them.

Can film give my Prahran terrace front door some privacy without looking modern?

Yes. Decorative and stained glass effect films come in patterns that sit comfortably with Victorian and Edwardian doors, as well as simple frosted finishes. They let daylight into the hallway while blurring the view from the footpath. Because they are films rather than replacement glass, the original glass stays in place underneath.

Is a vinyl wrap a sensible option for a small terrace kitchen?

Often it is. Many terrace kitchens are compact, with cabinets that are sound but tired looking. Wrapping the doors, panels and splashback changes the look without removing joinery or squeezing new cabinetry down a narrow hallway. If the board is swollen or the laminate is lifting badly, we will tell you it needs repair or replacement first.

Can you wrap tables and bar tops in a Greville Street cafe or bar?

Yes, tables, bar fronts, counters and wall panels can all be wrapped in hard wearing architectural vinyl. We look at how each surface is used, how hot things get near it and how it is cleaned, then suggest finishes that suit. Work can usually be planned around trading so you are not closed longer than needed.
