Interior Wraps & Window Film Chadstone

Interior Wrap & Film Specialists for Chadstone

Chadstone is a suburb in the middle of a rebuild. Much of the housing went up after the Second World War, and many of those houses were built from prefabricated concrete on generous blocks. Today you will find original postwar homes next door to brand new double storey houses and townhouses, sometimes on the same street.

From our Mitcham base, Chadstone is an easy run across the eastern suburbs, and we work right across the area, between Warrigal Road and Huntingdale Road and either side of the Monash Freeway. Homeowners here usually fall into two camps: people updating an older house they plan to stay in, and people moving into a new build who want to protect it from day one.

What we recommend for Chadstone homes

  • Kitchen cabinet and door wraps: for postwar kitchens with solid cabinets and dated doors, a wrap is usually far less disruptive than a new kitchen.
  • Interior vinyl wraps: internal doors, built in wardrobes and feature panels can all be given a new finish.
  • Kitchen benchtop protection: clear film for new stone tops in rebuilt homes, applied before the busy move in period.
  • Bathroom countertop protection: helps keep new vanities free of stains from cosmetics and cleaning products.
  • Home window tinting: newer homes often have large west facing windows, and film helps manage the afternoon heat.
  • Frosted glass film: for bathroom and stair windows on new double storey homes that overlook, or are overlooked by, the neighbours.

Postwar homes and new builds side by side

Chadstone’s older houses are typically modest two or three bedroom homes, and plenty of them have been updated bit by bit. Kitchens added in later decades often have laminate doors and benchtops in good structural shape. That is the classic case for a wrap: same layout, new look, and no trades crowding the house for weeks.

The new builds raise different issues. Two storey houses on subdivided or rebuilt blocks bring more windows close to the boundary, so privacy becomes a question for bathrooms, landings and upstairs bedrooms. Bigger glazed living areas also let in more sun than the old brick veneer ever did.

Chadstone also sits beside one of Melbourne’s best known shopping centres, so many locals are used to a polished, modern finish. We often bring that same crisp look to a home kitchen without starting again.

What happens when you book

We start with a free quote and measure at your home. We bring sample swatches of wraps and films so you can compare them against your floors, walls and light. On the day, we clean and prepare everything, remove handles and hinges where needed, apply the wrap or film carefully around edges and corners, then put it all back together.

After installation, there is a short settling time. Our curing period and inspection page explains what to expect, and the maintenance guide shows how to clean wraps and films so they last.

Honest advice on wraps and films

A wrap is only as good as the surface under it. If a postwar kitchen has swollen board under the sink or doors that are falling apart, a wrap will not fix that. We will say so and suggest repairs or replacement for those parts.

Heat is the other limit. Vinyl should not go directly beside a cooktop, an oven or a heater, so we plan the finish around those areas. For window film, we check the glass first. Some double glazed and tinted units in new builds need particular films, and we will not apply one that is not suited to your glass.

Can you wrap the kitchen in an older Chadstone house instead of replacing it?

If the cabinet boxes are sound, usually yes. Many postwar kitchens in Chadstone have solid carcasses with doors that look dated. We wrap the doors, panels and sometimes the splashback in a new finish. If the board is water damaged or the laminate is lifting badly, we will tell you at the measure that repairs come first.

Will window film help with the heat in a newer Chadstone townhouse?

It can make a real difference to glare and heat gain on west and north facing glass, which many new townhouses have plenty of. We look at which windows get the most sun and suggest films with the right balance of heat control and visible light. We also check the glass type first, since some double glazed units need specific films.

I am building a new home in Chadstone. Can you protect the new benchtops?

Yes. Clear protection film can go on new stone or engineered benchtops and bathroom vanities soon after they are installed, to help guard against scratches, etching and stains during move in and daily use. It does not replace common sense care, so boards and trivets are still a good idea.
